"in my safe space"

Queer Skin Series Vol. 6

feat. Digo Acuzar

Photographed by: Iko Salas

This year, I got the chance to shoot this amazing artist right here and talk about his journey being comfortable in his own skin. Nakakatuwa lang kasi biglaan lang din kasi saglit lang sya dito sa Metro Manila that time. We shot it sa maliit na space sa bahay and during the shoot, I can really feel his warm energy, the wisdom that he holds as an artist and his authenticity.

I hope you enjoy consuming the photos. I asked Digo when he saw the photos ang sabi nya the photos emit a certain energy - subtle but powerful, delicate, kind and considerate. He even told parang cotton candy daw yung feeling *laughs*.

But I really hope this set speaks to you.

Sharing Digo's advice to ‘the next queer kid.

"Life is a long journey of loving yourself unconditionally and accepting the whole spectrum of who you are. You've got to embrace both the positives and the negatives, the brighter and the darker shades of your rainbow, the parts of you that you're proud of, love and celebrate and the parts of you that you hate, hide and judge.

How you treat and accept yourself sets the tone on how you treat and accept others. So, take small steps each day to appreciate yourself and be gentle with your journey of self-discovery."

artegoph’s “Queer Skin Series” is an art set produced by Iko Salas, the creator of ‘artegoph | the art of being gay.’

The art set series focuses on different queer skin stories— stories of being queer here in the Philippines. The wide spectrum of stories aims to empower not just the featured muse but also its audience. Stories about acceptance, self exploration, queer love, self love, being at peace with your ownself and many more.

It is artegoph’s own little way of taking up space — by celebrating queer people and their amazing stories.
